“Copa Cervezas de America” gives 64 medals and becomes a reference in Latinamerica

The first international beer contest held in Chile has been noticed for being one of the most important in the region, rewarding Belgium, Brazil, Netherlands  and Chile with gold medals each,  for its beer brands in competition.

Santiago, September 19th, 2011 - Beers from Belgium, Brazil, Netherlands and Chile obtained gold medals at the international competition "Copa Cervezas de América 2011." 21 countries and 280 beer brands participated at the event, which were blind tasted and evaluated by a jury. The Contest was organized by Maltexco and Alma Cerveza magazine.

The gold medals were obtained by  "Blonde Ale", the Belgian beer brew by Augustijn on the category “Belgian Strong Ale”; "Weizenbier" Brazilian beer brew by Cervejaria Bamberg on the category “German Wheat”;  the Dutch label "Dubbel" brew by  La Trappe also on the category “Belgian Strong Ale” , and a Chilean brewery Cuello Negro with its “Stout” on the category “Stout”.

Within the 64 medals delivered, 46 were achieved by Latin American beers, and 28 distinctions to Chilean entries.  Outstand  Cervecería Kross (Chile) with 3 bronzes, Cervejaria Bamberg (Brazil) with one gold and two silver; Cervecería Bavaria (Colombia) with 1 silver and 2 bronze; Cervecería Davok (Uruguay) 2 silver; Cervecería Selva Fria (Chile)) 2 silver; Cervecería Szot (Chile) 2 silver; Cervejaria Bierland (Brazil) 2 bronce and Cerveza COPPER (Chile) 2 bronze.

During the five-day competition in Duoc UC, nine seminars were conducted in order to address specific topics for beer producers. These were issued by recognized authorities and brewers of this industry as Jay Brooks, Matthew Brynildson, Lyn Kruger, Martin Boan, Rodrigo Sanchez, Lars Larson, John Guzman, among other personalities.

Competition took place from Monday September 5th thru Friday September 9th, 2011.
